ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
As a member of the global community, we at Totai will proactively address environmental issues common throughout the world through various initiatives.
- Part 1 Compliance with Environmental Laws and Regulations
- Part 2 Support for Environment-related Organizations
- Part 3 Business Activities and Employee Development in Line with Common International Goals (SDGs)
- Part 4 Provision of Packaging Technology to Reduce Food Loss
ENVIRONMENTAL EQUIPMENT
Focusing on air pollution prevention and CO2 emission control, we aim to be an earth-friendly company.
VOC Solvent Recovery and Purification System
In the solvent recovery system, gas containing organic solvents generated when drying adhesives is not emitted into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide by the combustion equipment, but is recovered, purified, and reused as organic solvents.
We have achieved both a significant reduction in environmental impact and effective use of resources through solvent recycling.
Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) Heat Storage Deodorizer
( efforts by Totai Packaging (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. )
RTO is an energy-saving type device that stores heat generated during oxidative decomposition in ceramics and oxidizes and decomposes VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) at 850°C or higher, and is suitable for processing high-concentration gases.
Air Conditioning System at Processing Site
An air conditioning system has been installed at the printing and the lamination work site, and it is possible to work in a stable air conditioning with controlled temperature and humidity in all seasons.
Non-Solvent Lamination
This laminator in the Fujikawa plant does not use organic solvents and it contributes to a healthy working environment without any emissions into the atmosphere.
This also benefits the end product to be free from odors caused by solvents.
SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION ACTIVITIES
Totai Co., Ltd. is a councilor of the Japan Association for the United Nations WFP, an accredited NPO that is an official support representative for the United Nations WFP, which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020.
The WFP is guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 "Zero Hunger" and SDG 17 "Partnerships to achieve the Goals".
Totai Co., Ltd. is a member of CLOMA (Clean Ocean Material Alliance).
It is necessary for the entire world to promote efforts to solve the problem of marine plastic waste, which is a new global issue.
In order to reduce marine plastic waste, in addition to proper waste management, including thorough prevention of littering, urgent measures are required, such as further strengthening the 3R (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle)
initiatives for plastic products and promoting the development and spread of alternative materials such as plastics and paper with excellent biodegradability.
In order to solve the problem of marine plastic waste, it is important for us to promote the development, manufacture, and use of plastic products with a low environmental impact.
After ensuring the appropriate collection and treatment of used plastic products, we can replace them with materials and products with a lower environmental impact.
CLOMA and its members will work to solve the marine plastic waste problem under the following five (5) principles:
- Through the development, production, and use of materials and products, we will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the realization of a clean ocean.
- We will work on "thorough collection and disposal of used plastic products" and "deepening the 3Rs and replacing them with materials and products with lower environmental impact."
- We will share technology, know-how, and experience among members to the maximum extent possible and create greater innovation, including business models.
- We will optimize the combination of technological development and social systems and accelerate social implementation by gaining the understanding of stakeholders.
- We will disseminate to the world the Japan Model of recycling materials and reducing environmental impact, and develop it in a way that adapts to the national conditions of each country.
